A new Bloodshot ongoing is coming this September, from writer Tim Seeley and artist Brett Booth. First reported by Deadline, this new series is timed so that a collected edition will be out coinciding with Sony's Bloodshot movie on February 21, 2020.
"I don’t feel like I need to reinvent the wheel with Bloodshot," Seeley said. "What I need to do is tell a big, crazy story that can only be done in comics, and I need it to be powerful and emotional and relevant in a way only comics can do. I want to go back to basics and tell a story about a guy who was made to be a weapon but isn’t allowing anyone to use him ever again."
Seeley's run on Bloodshot will get a headstart however, as the writer is partnerting with X-O Manowar artist Tomas Giorello for a one-shot to be released as part of Free Comic Book Day on May 4.
"He’s an outcast, an outsider, and he can’t help but use his indestructible body to help people, even though all it ever does is get him in trouble," the writer continued. "With great power comes a great big pile of shell casings!"
Declan Shalvey has signed on to illustrate Bloodshot's primary covers, and Valiant intents to collect the first three issues for a slimmed-down compilation in December.
