Marvel Studios is developing an animated series based on the memorable What If? title for the upcoming Disney+ streaming service, according to SlashFilm. Like the original comic book series, Disney+'s What If? would reportedly be standalone stories playing out alternate versions of memorable moments from Marvel history; one specific one noted is What If? #47, which asked "What if Loki had found the hammer of Thor?"
(Note for nothing, Tom Hiddleston's Loki did find the hammer of Thor in the feature film, but was unable to lift it).
Marvel Studios is reportedly angling to have some of the actors from the MCU return to voice their characters in this animated series.
This would be the first animated series undertaken directly by Marvel Studios, although it is possibly they could partner with Marvel Animation (or another in-house Disney animation studio) on the project.
Earlier this year, Marvel Television announced plans for five animated series with Hulu.
