According to the Hollywood Reporter, master of motion capture Andy Serkis and actor Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Maze Runner's Newt) have signed on as the leads of director Wes Ball's adaptation of Archaia/Boom! Studios Mouse Guard comic books.

Serkis is reportedly the story's villain - the Guard’s blacksmith Midnight. Brodie-Sangster is reportedly Lieam, "one of the Guard’s newest and youngest members who will be called upon to prove his bravery."

The Fox production is expected to begin in May, based on the comics and graphic novel by David Petersen.

"When guardsmice Saxon, Kenzie and Lieam are dispatched to find a missing merchant mouse that never arrived at his destination, they stumble onto much more than they had bargained for—intrigue, betrayal and a deadly, traitorous plot to overthrow the stronghold of Lockhaven," reads BOOM! Studios' description of Mouse Guard's first volume.

Matt Reeves is one of the film's producers.
