Ousted Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn's brother Sean Gunn, who also portrays Kraglin in the series and has acted as Rocket's physical stand-in on set, says that the upcoming Vol. 3 will be made - even if he's not yet sure quite how it will happen just yet.
“I don’t know exactly how that’s all gonna work,” Gunn told Variety about making the third Guardians film. “But I feel like we are going to make the third movie, I’m excited to make it, I think it’s a disservice to the fans if we didn’t make it and I know the people who worked on the Guardians movies are really a family, and we’re gonna come together and make the best movie we can regardless of who’s in charge. I just have this feeling everything’s gonna work itself out."
James Gunn was fired as director of Guardians Vol. 3 in summer 2018, following the resurfacing of offensive tweets he made prior to working for Marvel Studios. Despite a campaign by the cast, Gunn was not rehired by Marvel, and no replacement director has been announced - however, Gunn's script for the film will still be used.
