Sylvester Stallone is set to produce-and-star in an new, original superhero film for MGM titled Samaritan, according to Deadline. Described as a "dark, fresh take on the superhero genre," Samaritan was created and written by Bragi F. Schut, who created the CBS series Threshold.
This Samaritan film is seperate from the planned Astro City television series, which also has a superhero named Samaritan.
This would be the latest in a line of superhero projects for Stallone, who most recently appeared as Starhawk in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The iconic actor played Judge Dredd in the self-titled 1995 film, had a cameo in Men in Black, and famously lobbied to play the lead role in 1978's Superman: The Movie.
