Rick & Morty's Michael Waldron has been tapped as showrunner for Disney+'s Loki television series, according to Variety.
The reported premise of the show will reveal how Loki has an "unlikely influencer" on historical events as he pops up throughout human history. If accurate, that would ably work around the character's death in Avengers: Infinity War, though its not clear whether his murder at the hands of Thanos will be permanent.
And not for nothing, but while Loki is thousands of years old and the series could simply be a 'prequel,' fans shouldn't completely rule out a possible Time stone connection. Could that be the latest stone Loki steals for himself?
Waldron is best-known for his writing and producing work on Cartoon Network's Rick & Morty. He previously acted as showrunner on a Starz pilot called Heels that wasn't ordered to series.
The Disney+ streaming service is expected to launch later this year. A timetable for Loki has not been given.
