A new animated Star Trek series is in talks for Nickelodeon, according to Deadline. The show is reportedly being developed by Alex Kurtzman and CBS TV Studios, with Ninjago's Kevin and Dan Hageman pencilled in to write.
Nickelodeon envisions this as "a major tentpole series" for the network - and would be the first modern-day Star Trek series aimed at younger audiences. The previously-announced Lower Decks series is intended for mature audiences, as are the live action Star Trek: Discovery, Picard, and Section 31.
This report comes 45 years after the conclusion of Star Trek's first animated series, which aired on NBC.
