DC will be spotlighting their villains in a year-long initiative beginning this May with Year of the Villain, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

On May 1, the publisher will release a special 25¢ one-shot anthology with stories about villains tying into upcoming Batman, Justice League, and Superman titles - including a "City of Bane" story-arc in Tom King's Batman and a continuation of the current Batman Who Laughs limited series into a new title launching this summer.

Writers Brian Michael Bendis, Scott Snyder, and James Tynion IV will be working with artists Alex Maleev, Jim Cheung, and Francis Manapul on stories for this. Greg Capullo has drawn the primary cover, with variants by Maleev, Cheung, and Stanley "Artgerm" Lau.

Bendis has previously teased a DC event book with Maleev tying into the crime organization Leviathan.

This Year of the Villain one-shot is scheduled for May 1, just four days before Free Comic Book Day - one of the highest-trafficked days for comic retailers.
