Rachel Skarsten has been cast as Alice, Batwoman's primary antagonist (and sister) in the DC superhero's upcoming titular CW pilot, according to Deadline. Skarsten will co-star opposite Ruby Rose, who debuted in 2018's "Elseworlds" crossover event.
"I am thrilled to announce my next adventure. It is a very sweet homecoming for me, both to my favorite DC universe and beloved CW. Just call me Alice," Skarsten wrote on Instagram.
"If Batwoman had a Joker, it would be Alice, the leader of her Lewis Carroll–inspired Wonderland Gang," reads the Hollywood trade's description of Alice. "Swinging unpredictably between maniacal and charming, Alice has made it her mission to undermine Gotham’s sense of security."
Alice's real name in comic books is Elizabeth Kane, and is the long-lost twin sister of Kate Kane (a.k.a. Batwoman).
Skarsten played Dinah Lance (a.k.a. Black Canary) in 2002's Birds of Prey TV series on the WB (which has since become the CW). She recently appeared on Bravo's Imposters, CW's Reign, and Syfy's Lost Girl.
Pre-production is underway now for a Batwoman pilot. The CW could pick up the series to debut as soon as the fall 2019 season.
