Lauren Cohan could be leading her own The Walking Dead spin-off - much in the same way that co-star Andrew Lincoln is scheduled to appear in TWD spin-off movies. While promoting her upcoming ABC series Whiskey Cavalier at a Television Critics Association event, the actor was asked about the possibility and was careful in what she said.
"There may have been some conversations but everything is so early days ambiguous," Cohen said, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "Me, as much as anybody, we'll have to see what happens."
Cohan had been a lead actor in the AMC series from 2011 to 2018, but stepped back from the show after being unable to agree to do a new deal with the network. She appeared in a limited capacity in the first half of the current season, but hasn't been announced for any future appearances.
"I don't even think that it was bad," Cohan said of the contract talks. "It was like, I've done the show for a long time. It was a long time to be in any character and sometimes you just get quiet and listen to your inner-guidance and it's time to multitask."
AMC reportedly has big franchise plans for The Walking Dead - in addition to the spin-off Fear the Walking Dead and the Rick Grimes movies, reports in September indicated they were interested in several additional TV spin-offs.
Cohan's new series Whiskey Cavalier debuts February 24 on ABC.
