Writer Brian Michael Bendis says he's still working on an unspecified X-Men film through Disney's buyout of 21st Century Fox, though plans for what will happen to Fox's in-development films once Disney's buyout is complete remain unclear.
"Yeah, I’m working on it right now," Bendis tweeted in response to a fan asking if he was still working on the film, previously reported as a Kitty Pryde solo story. "It’s vvvvvvvery surreal and delightful to be so deep inside the X-Mansion and the Fortress of Solitude at the same time."
Bendis' comment regarding the Fortress of Solitude of course refers to his status as the current writer of both Superman and Action Comics.
It's unclear if Bendis' in-development X-Men project is the previously reported Kitty Pryde film, for which Deadpool director Tim Miller was also purportedly attached, or if he's working on something else.
Disney's buyout of Fox, who currently hold the X-Men film rights and are the studio leading development of the project, is expected to be completed this year. So far both parties have remained mum about the future of Fox's currently planned and in-the-works X-Men films.
