DC Comics will launch a newly announced "Be a Hero, Read a Book" campaign, which will promote reading by providing graphic novels and promotional materials featuring art from upcoming DC Zoom and DC Ink titles starting at January 25-28's American Library Association Mid-Winter Conference in Seattle.
Each month, DC will provide libraries with excerpts from upcoming DC Ink and DC Zoom graphic novels, along with promotional material featuring DC characters reading those same OGNs. The first promotional piece by Frances Manapul features Batman reading the upcoming DC Zoom YA graphic novel Super Sons: The PolarShield Project by Ridley Pearson and Ile Gonzalez, on shelves April 2.
DC's "Be a Hero, Read a Book" campaign will also be a "key component" of Booklist's first annual “Graphic Novels in Libraries Month” in July, a month long program which promotes reading through events centered on comic books and graphic novels.
Attendees at the ALA conference can pick up early promotional materials featuring Manapul's artwork at the DC booth.
