DC Comics is adding to its publishing partnership with Walmart, increasing the number of 100-Page Giant comics from four to six. In addition, two titles from the original lineup will be re-titled and renumbered as #1 issues.
New Swamp Thing and The Flash titles will be added and Justice League of America and Teen Titans will be rebranded and renumbered, with Wonder Woman and Titans volumes taking their place.
“DC has been incredibly successful in attracting new readers through its relationship with Walmart,” said Nancy Spears, DC's Vice President of Mass Book, Digital Sales and Trade Marketing. "These two titles are the perfect extensions to the Walmart line, given the successful Flash tv show and the popularity of last October’s Swamp Thing Halloween Horror Special.”
Writer Gail Simone and artist Clayton Henry are doing a 12-part story for The Flash series titled "Glass Houses," featuring the Mirror Master. This 100-Page Giant will include reprints such as: Andy Diggle and Pasqual Ferry's Adam Strange; Geoff Johns and Gary Frank's Shazam! serial from the "New 52" Justice League title; and exceprts from Francis Manapul and Brian Buccellato's The Flash run.
The new Swamp Thing title's lead feature will be a new serial by writer Tim Seeley and a rotating cast of artists. Mike Perkins will draw the first, titled "Desert of Ash"; Joelle Jones will follow with a two-parter, "Bog of Blood." The series will also have reprint content including: "The Hunt" by Jeff Lemire, Travel Foreman, and Dan Green's Animal Man; "Raise Dem Bones" from Scott Snyder and Yanick Paquette's Swamp Thing; and "Death in a Small Town" from Bill Willingham's Shadowpact.
The new Wonder Woman title will continue the character's serial by Amanda Conner, Jimmy Palmiotti, Tom Derenick, and Chad Hardin from the previous Justice League of America 100-Page Giant. Future reprints for this title include excerpts from Geoff Johns' Justice League and Aquaman runs, as well as Allan Heinberg and Terry Dodson's Wonder Woman run.
Dan Jurgens, Scot Eaton, and Wayne Faucher will continue their Teen Titans serial in the newly renamed and renumbered Titans 100-Page Giant title. Upcoming reprints for that book will be culled from Peter Tomasi and Kenneth Rocafort's Super Sons, Geoff Johns and Tom Grummett's Teen Titans, and Dan DiDio and Max Raynor's Sideways.
These new titles will hit stands February 17, joining the two other continuing titles - Superman and Batman.
DC's line of 100-Page Giants at Walmart was launched in July 2018.
