Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige says Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is still in the works - though the "when, where, and how" have yet to be determined.
"Guardians will happen," Feige told MTV News. "When, where, how - that's for a later time."
Guardians Vol. 3 has reportedly been on hold since August 2018, following James Gunn's firing from the director's chair after offsensive tweets he made prior to working for Marvel Studios made headlines, with Drax actor Dave Bautista saying the film was on "permanent hold for now." At last update, Gunn's script was still in use as the basis for the film, however no director has been named.
Vice director Adam McKay recently told MTV's Happy Sad Confused podcast that he had met with Marvel about the film, though he did not disclose what the result of that meeting was.
As for Gunn, the filmmaker is currently at work on a script for Warner Bros.' DC sequel Suicide Squad 2, an endeavor in which Feige wished him luck.
"I don't see a rivalry, I see cool films being made," said Feige. "And one thing you know about James Gunn, he makes cool films."
