Disney's in-progress buyout of 20th Century Fox has had fans speculating about where Marvel Studios would take the Fantastic Four and X-Men once their film rights were returned. But there's at least one person who hasn't put much thought into how it will work yet - Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige.
“The notion of the characters coming back is great. It’s nice when a company that created all these characters can have access to all those characters," Feige told Variety's Playback Podcast. "It’s unusual not to. But in terms of actually thinking about it and actually planning things, we haven’t started that yet.”
Feige's comments here reiterate some of his previous statements on the return of the X-Men and Fantastic Four to Marvel, however the filmmaker did offer an updated timeline on when Marvel Studios would start planning for their return.
“We’ve been told it’s looking very, very good and could happen in the first six months of next year," Feige explained.
