The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have released shortlists of films in consideration for Oscars in nine categories for 2019's 91st annual awards. Marvel Studios' Avengers: Infinity War, Black Panther, and Ant-Man & the Wasp charted in several of those categories.

In "Makeup and Hairstyling," Black Panther is in contention with Bohemian Rhapsody, Border, Mary Queen of Scots, Stan & Ollie, Suspiria, and Vice. The Academy's Makeup Artists and Hairstylists Branch will winnow down these seven to three finalists.

In "Music (Original Score)," both Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War made it to the shortlist - joined by Annihilation, The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, BlacKkKlansman, Crazy Rich Asians, The Death of Stalin, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, First Man, If Beale Street Could Talk, Isle of Dogs, Mary Poppins Returns, A Quiet Place, Ready Player One, and Vice.

In the related "Music (Original Song)" category, Black Panther's "All the Stars" by Kendrick Lemar and SZA made the shortlist. It will be competing against “When A Cowboy Trades His Spurs For Wings” (The Ballad of Buster Scruggs), "Treasure" (Beautiful Boy), "Revelation" (Boy Erased), "Girl In The Movies" (Dumplin'), "We Won't Move" (The Hate U Give), "The Place Where Lost Things Go" (Mary Poppins Returns), Trip a Little Light Fantastic" (Mary Poppins Returns), "Keep Reachin'" (Quincy), "I'll Fight" (RBG), "A Place called Slaugher Race" (Ralph Breaks the Internet), "OYAHYTT" (Sorry to Bother You), "Shallow" (A Star is Born), "Suspirium" (Suspiria), and "The Big Unknown" (Widows).

And finally, in "Visual Effects" we have Ant-Man and the Wasp, Avengers: Infinity War, and Black Panther in competition with Christopher Robin, First Man, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Mary Poppins Returns, Ready Player One, Solo: A Star Wars Story, and Welcome to Marwen for the five finalists spots.

The other category shortlists also revealed were "Documentary Feature," "Documentary Short Subject," "Foreign Language Film," "Animated Short Film," and "Live Action Short Film." A complete list of those can be found here.

The final nominees are scheduled to be announced January 22, 2019, with the awards ceremony following on February 24.
