Adria Arjona is in talks to play Martine Bancroft in Sony Pictures' Morbius, according to Deadline.
Originally debuting in 1972's Amazing Spider-Man #102 by Roy Thomas and Gil Kane, Martine Bancroft was Michael Morbius' fiancee when he came to the United States to seek a cure for his blood disorder. When his experiments lead him to becoming a full-on vampire, their relationship crumbles as he fights urges to drink her blood. She is later killed by one of Morbius' enemies, Doctor Langford, but is eventually resurrected as a vampire herself.
Arjona starred in the 2017 NBC Emerald City series as Dorothy Gale, and has also appeared in Pacific Rim: Uprising, True Detective, and The Belko Experiment. She has a role in Amazon Prime's Good Omens adaptation and Netflix's Six Underground.
Sony has tapped Daniel Espinosa to direct Morbius, starring Jared Leto in the title role. Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama have completed a script for the film. Earlier this year, producer Avi Arad said that filming is expected to begin in February 2019.
The studio has not announced a theatrical release date for Morbius, however it has two upcoming dates reserved - July 10, 2020 and October 2, 2020.
