Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson has inked a deal to write and direct a sequel, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
This is hardly a surprise - Derrickson and Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige have each made their intent to create a sequel known. The reported deal would simply make it official.
Citing unnamed sources, THR goes on to report that scripting for the film will take place in 2019, followed by production in 2020 and a May 2021 theatrical release. Indeed, Marvel Studios has laid claim to May 7, 2021 as the release date for an unnamed film.
According to THR, Marvel offered no comment on the reported deal or release date.
