Journalist-turned-screenwriter Stephen Schiff has been tapped as showrunner for Disney+'s Star Wars show centered on Rogue One's Cassian Andor, according to Deadline. This series will be set prior to the events of Rogue One, as Andor (played by Diego Luna) died in the finale of the film.

Schiff will reportedly be working from a pilot script and bible written by Jared Bush.

Schiff comes to this project after writing and executive producing FX's The Americans - that series' star Keri Russell was recently hired for J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: Episode IX. Schiff was previously known as a film journalist/critic for The New Yorker and Vanity Fair.

This Rogue One prequel series is anticipated to begin filming in 2019.
