Dark Horse Comics has announced that March 23, 2019 will mark Hellboy Day, just a few weeks ahead of the new Hellboy film's theatrical release.
March 2019 will mark the 25th anniversary of Hellboy's 1994 debut. To celebrate, Dark Horse is re-releasing a special edition of Hellboy: Seed of Destruction #1, featuring a new cover by Hellboy creator Mike Mignola and colorist Dave Stewart. The issue will be given out in participating comic shops.
“When I created Hellboy way back when I never imagined he would be around long enough to celebrate a 25th anniversary,” said Mignola in a statement. “I’m grateful to the writers, artists, colorists and letterers who’ve joined me in telling Hellboy stories for all these years. And, of course, so grateful to the fans. This thing could not exist without their support and it’s a pleasure every time I get to go out to meet them.”
Other promotional materials to be given out on Hellboy Day include Hellboy temporary tattoo sheets, Right Hand of Doom bookmarks, and numerous store decorations.
Hellboy Day happens March 23, 2019. The new Hellboy film is due out in theaters April 12.
