A memorial reception and candlelight vigil will be held in Stony Brook, New York to honor the life and legacy of the late Stan Lee. Lee lived for a time in the Stony Brook area, and is among the most famous one-time residents of the Long Island community.
The reception and vigil is scheduled to take place Thursday, November 15 at 5:00 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Express Stony Brook. The organizers are encouraging fans to come dressed as some of Stan Lee's co-created characters, and stay for a showing of Lee's various movies at the hotel.
"Stan Lee was a member of the Long Island family and a major part of my childhood," said Charlie Ziegler, president of the Tri-State Stan Lee Fab Club. "I fondly remember reading his comic books and imagining Stan Lee’s creations."
Ziegler is organizing the event alongside various Stony Brook community leaders.
The Holiday In Express Stony Brook is located at 3131 Nesconset Highway in Stony Brook, New York.
