20th Century Fox's Mouse Guard movie is scheduled to begin production this January with a $150 million budget, according to That Hashtag Show. Based on the comic book series by David Petersen, Fox's Mouse Guard is planned as a hybrid live-action/motion-capture film similiar to Walt Disney Pictures' The Jungle Book.

"When guardsmice Saxon, Kenzie and Lieam are dispatched to find a missing merchant mouse that never arrived at his destination, they stumble onto much more than they had bargained for—intrigue, betrayal and a deadly, traitorous plot to overthrow the stronghold of Lockhaven," reads BOOM! Studios' description of Mouse Guard's first volume.

Maze Runner director Wes Ball was previously reported to be directing the film, based on a script by Dante Harper and Gary Whitta.

Fox has not set a release date for Mouse Guard.
