Venom has become Sony's highest grossing movie ever in Russia, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The film, which has generated unexpected box office numbers in the United States, has reportedly outdone all other Sony films at the Russian box office.

THR says Venom has earned approximately $24 million worth of Russian Rubles. This places Venom just behind Avengers: Infinity War, which took in the equivalent of around $32.7 million, as the country's top grossing film this year.

Venom's opening weekend Russian box office take was around $14.4m, making it the fourth highest grossing opening weekend ever in Russia.

Venom earned approximately $35.7m at the domestic box office this weekend to lead for the second consecutive week. It has now earned approximately $142.8m domestically and $378m worldwide in 10 days of release.
