3D building game Minecraft will add three Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse themed challenges to its Major League Gaming circuit in November.
The first challenge, titled "Spider-Verse: Domination," is part of Super League's Minecraft City Champs tournament, a game that pits teams of five players against each other to capture and hold certain key points in a recreation of Into the Spider-Verse's New York City.
The City Champs tournament will be held at select movie theaters between October 27 and December 9, with registration starting October 15 via the Super League website.
The second game, "The Battle of New York," is part of Super League's monthly Minecraft challenge, and will include the "Spider-Verse: Domination" mini-game along with other min-games based on the film. Players can compete in this challenge from home on every Sunday in November.
The final challenge will be an open building game that challenges players to build their own Minecraft version of Into the Spider-Verse's New York, which will then be displayed for other Minecraft players to explore. This challenge runs from December 1 to December 9.
“Super League Gaming is a player-first company – we constantly strive to bring more value into the player experience,” said Matt Edelman, CCO of Super League Gaming, in a statement. “Sony Pictures immediately understood that and encouraged us to design an authentic program to support Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse that would excite and delight our community. We can’t wait for it to launch!”
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is due out in theaters December 14.
