Comics and film writer John Ridley is opening a new arts center in his hometown, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, called No Studios. With a grand opening scheduled for October 12, No Studios is planned as a place to bridge "arts and entertainmnt experiences," and act as a networking/social club/shared workspace for creatives in the city.
"No Studios is unlike anything I’ve been a part of before,” Ridley said. "We’ve carefully curated a space and network where creatives of all kinds can socialize with purpose. Relationships still matter, and in our increasingly digital world, we hope to offer the opportunity for people to connect offline and fuel their creative passions."
No Studios will be hosting a special advance creening of the upcoming film Night School on September 26 as a preview of what's to come.
No Studios is located in a 40,000 square foot building inside the newly-redeveloped Pabst Brewery Complex. Other tentants include Independent, Media Circus InternationalmGener8tor, Milwaukee Film, Milwaukee Filmmaker Alliance, 371 Productions, Custom Reality Services, UW-Milwaukee Department of Film and Marquette University.
Ridley is currently writing the DC Black Label title The Other History of the DC Universe, as well as writing/directing an adaptation of his DC title American Way.
