The outspoken Dave Bautista wants Marvel Studios' to make a Drax solo film - even if its not him playing Drax.
"I think it's a beautiful story and I think it's been lost and overlooked a little bit," Bautista told MTV International. "It's a beautiful and heartbreaking emotional thing to know where that love for his family and that heartbreak over his family being lost and murdered... where it comes from I think."
Over the course of the two Guardians of the Galaxy films, it's been explained that Drax's wife and daughter were killed by Ronan the Accuser at the behest of Thanos.
"I really pushed and fought for the Drax standalone film but I don't think it's ever going to happen," he added. "I really wish they would because I think there's a story to be told there and I think the fans would really love to see that story, even if it's not me portraying Drax, I just think it is an interesting story to tell."
Here is the interview:
The idea of Bautista not playing Drax is something the actor had brought up previously after writer/director James Gunn was removed from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and the film was put on indefinite hold.
"It's a bitter-sweet conversation – um, no it's a bitter-bitter conversation because I'm not really happy with what they've done with James Gunn. They're putting the movie off. It's on hold indefinitely. To be honest with you, I don't know if I want to work for Disney."
Bautista is scheduled to reprise his role in the fourth Avengers film, scheduled for release May 3, 2019.
