The Thanos team of writer Donny Cates and artist Geoff Shaw are reuniting to relaunch Marvel Comics' Guardians of the Galaxy in 2019.
The announcement was made in an advance press copy of this Wednesday's Thanos Legacy #1 which Marvel sent out to some press outlets for an early announcement.
"Donny Cates and Geoff Shaw will soon reveal... #WhoAreTheGuardians" reads the text at the end of the issue, followed by this two-page spread.
The image includes over 35 Marvel Cosmic characters, ranging from the most-recent Guardians of the Galaxy team, Cosmo, Smasher, the original 1969 Guardians team, Howard the Duck, Adam Warlock, Eros, the Starjammers, the Shi'ar Imperial Guard, Wraith, Beta Ray Bill, a Nova, Super-Skrull, Silver Surfer, Moon Dragon, Cosmic Ghost Rider, and Galactus.
Cates' Thanos Legacy #1 story (with artists Brian Level and Jordan Boyd) included Cosmic Ghost Rider, Thanos, and Eros, and could possibly act as a lead-in to this new Guardians of the Galaxy series. You can read more about that issue here.
Cates and Shaw's Guardians of the Galaxy is scheduled to debut in January 2019.
Thanos Legacy #1 goes on-sale Wednesday, September 5.
