The First Purge actor Joivan Wade has been cast as Cyborg for the DC Universe streaming service's Doom Patrol.
The actor will portray the character, who was played by Ray Fisher in Justice League, in the series. Cyborg will appear in Doom Patrol alongside Niles Caulder, Elasti-Woman, Robotman, Negativeman, and Crazy Jane.
Here's how DC's official announcement describes the character: "Charming and sarcastic, Vic may be connected to every computer on the world, but he struggles to maintain the connections that make him human. Desperate to gain acceptance from the outside world, Vic harnesses the curse of his cybernetic body and uses his powers as the ultimate hero for the digital age."
According to DC Entertainment's announcment, Cyborg’s role in Doom Patrol promises to be "much meatier" than Fisher's in Justice League, "though exactly what form it will take is still uncertain."
"In the show’s description, it’s suggested that the Doom Patrol will be called to action by Cyborg, who comes to them with 'a mission that’s hard to refuse, but with a warning that’s hard to ignore," reads the announcement. "Whether he’ll be a formal part of the team alongside already announced cast members April Bowlby as Elasti-Girl and Diane Guerrero as Crazy Jane is uncertain at this time. "
Doom Patrol will serve as a follow up series to DC Universe's live action Titans. The service will launch this month.
