Despite just Sunday tweeting that he'll appear in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 due to his contractual obligations whether Disney re-hires fired writer/director James Gunn or not, actor Dave Bautista now says that if the filmmaker's just completed script isn't used, he'll attempt to leave his contract entirely.

“Nobody’s defending his tweets, but this was a smear campaign on a good man,” Bautista told ShortList. “I spoke to Chris Pratt the day after it happened and he’s a bit religious so he wanted time to pray and figure it out, but I was more like: f--- this. This is bulls---. James is one of the kindest, most decent people I’ve met.”

“Where I’m at right now is that if [Marvel] don’t use that script, then I’m going to ask them to release me from my contract, cut me out or recast me," he continued. "I'd be doing James a disservice if I didn't."

Gunn was fired from the film after offensive tweets he made prior to working for Disney resurfaced. Bautista and his co-stars have lobbied to have Gunn rehired, though Disney insiders report that his re-hiring is unlikely.
