Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista has revealed that Drax will appear in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 despite turning to dust in Avengers: Infinity War - but only because Bautista himself is contractually bound to be in the film.
Bautista made his comments while airing his grievances about Disney's recent firing of Guardians writer/director James Gunn following the resurfacing of offensive tweets he made prior to working for the studio.
"I will do what Im legally obligated to do but [Guardians of the Galaxy] without [James Gunn] is not what I signed up for. GOTG w/o [James Gunn] just isn’t GOTG," Bautista said on Twitter. "Its also pretty nauseating to work for someone who’d empower a smear campaign by fascists #cybernazis. That’s just how I feel."
Bautista, with the rest of the primary cast of the films, signed a letter to Disney requesting they rehire Gunn. However, Disney insiders have reported that the studio is "unlikely" to rehire the director.
No projected release date for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has been announced, nor have any potential replacements for Gunn been named.
