The Walt Disney Company is attempting to buy back the TV rights to its Star Wars film franchise to utilize on its in-house streaming service expected to launch in 2019, according to Bloomberg.

Turner Broadcasting (a subsidiary of Time Warner (and soon to be AT&T)) negotiated an eight-year exclusive deal for Star Wars TV rights back in 2016 for a reported $275 million.

According to Bloomberg, Disney inquired with Turner about a buyback but "met resistance" and desires "financial considerations and programming to replace the lost films."
