Image Comics' fantasy series Scales & Scoundrels will be coming to a close with September's twelfth issue. Announced in this week's Scales & Scoundrels, creators Sebastian Girner, Galaad, and Jeff Powell said that while #12 is the end of the series, they are exploring other options.
"Over the past year Galaad, Jeff and I have been honored and blessed to be able to tell a rollicking, fun and sprawling fantasy adventure, starring a cursed dragon princess and her wayward travel companions," the trio wrote in the issue's backmatter. "Today, we’re sad to have to announce that Scales & Scoundrels #12 will be the last issue of the series, at least for now.
"Please know that this is a decision made by us, the creative team. And it is not one that we made lightly. All of us love working on this book and will miss sharing it with our amazing readers every month," the letter continued. "And rest assured that we are already exploring several options for how Luvander and the gang’s adventures may continue on into the future, so don’t lose hope, because we sure aren’t!"
The trio do promise a "satisfactory stopping point" in next month's finale, which is due out September 12.
