Sony's Charlie's Angels reboot film has found its core cast, according to Variety. The trade reports that Kristen Stewart, Ella Balinska, and Naomi Scott will play the titular team of private investigators.
The film will be directed by Elizabeth Banks, best known for directing Pitch Perfect 2 as well as her roles in front of the camera. She portrayed Rita Repulsa in last year's Power Rangers reboot film, which also starred Naomi Scott.
Banks will produce and also co-wrote the film alongside Jay Basu. Charlie's Angels loosely follows the continuity of Sony's previous films in the series, focusing on a "new generation" of Angels.
“Charlie’s Angels, for me, is one of the original brands to celebrate the empowered woman since its debut in the ’70s,” Banks said. “This film honors the legacy of Charles Townsend and his agency while introducing a new era of modern and global Angels. I couldn’t be more excited to work with Kristen, Naomi and Ella to bring this chapter to fans around the world.”
Charlie's Angels also received a new release date, moving from June 7, 2019 to September 27, 2019.
