Frances Conroy is in talks to play the mother of Joaquin Phoenix's Joker in the 2019 Joker movie, according to The Wrap. The Hollwood also reports that the film will be based loosely on Alan Moore's Joker origin created in The Killing Joke.

Conroy is best known for her roles in American Horror Story and Arrested Development, but she has two very interesting comic book roles - voicing Martha Kent in 2011's All-Star Superman and 2013's Superman: Unbound, and playing Ophelia Powers in 2004's live-action Catwoman.

Joker is scheduled to begin filming this September for an October 4, 2019 release.
