Guardians of the Galaxy's James Gunn is teasing his involvement in Sony Pictures' Hall H panel at Comic-Con International: San Diego. Take a look:
That is the day, time, and location of Sony's SDCC panel - one which the studio has not released any information about.
While its possible Gunn could be involved in one of Sony's Spider-Verse related movies, the symbol in the background of Gunn's teaser is very similiar to one used in the manga Berserk by Kentaro Miura. In the manga (and various anime adaptations), the symbol - 'the Brand of Sacrifice' - is branded on the lead character Guts, as well as others. The manga has been adapted twice in anime for television and once as a series of animated films.
A similiar embel is also used in Grant Morrison and Chris Burnham's Nameless.
Gunn recently finished the first draft of the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 script for an intended 2020 theatrical release. That work might preclude him from directing another film in the next two years, but given Gunn has recently begun expanding his resume with to write and produce films for others - like 2016's The Belko Experiment - this could be something he would be involved with in that capacity.
