The Dark Knight will be re-released theatrically on IMAX screens to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the film's release, according to Variety.

IMAX played an important role in marketing The Dark Knight, which included several sequences shot on IMAX cameras - a rarity for superhero films at the time. The film's opening sequence, which introduced Heath Ledger's Joker, was shown ahead of IMAX screenings of the film I Am Legend the November before the film's release.

The film will be shown for one week only on select IMAX screens in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Toronto starting August 24.

Here's a list of the IMAX theaters screening The Dark Knight re-release:

AMC Universal Citywalk IMAX, Universal City
AMC Lincoln Square IMAX, New York
AMC Metreon IMAX, San Francisco
Ontario Place Cinesphere IMAX, Toronto

The Dark Knight was originally released July 18, 2008.
