Archie Comics is developing a television series based on its short-lived 1950s crime series Sam Hill: Private Eye, according to the New York Times.

Billed as "America's Hard-Boiled, Wise-Cracking Sleuth," Sam Hill's series ran for seven issues in 1950. Hill appeared infrequently in other Archie books, and in 2015 Tom DeFalco and Greg Scott created a new miniseries under the company's Dark Circle imprint.

NYT reports that Archie is aiming for the show to air on "network broadcast or streaming." Archie's Riverdale airs on the CW Network, while The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is scheduled to debut on Netflix.
