Chicago's C2E2 Changes 2019 Dates, Avoids WONDERCON and PLANET COMICON Conflict

The dates for ReedPOP's C2e2 in 2019 are changing - moving forward one week to March 22-24. ReedPOP Event Director Mike Armstrong said it was due to several factors from Star Wars Celebration at the same location in April, but also access to more of the convention center.

“There are multiple considerations when changing the dates on a convention of this size,” says ReedPOP Event Director Mike Armstrong. “Shifting one week earlier allows C2E2 to spread out over more McCormick Place, makes hotel rooms more readily available for fans and puts us in a better position to get big name talent and exhibitors that our fans want to see."

This rescheduling also avoids the 2019 convention from taking place the same weekend as Anahaim, Califoronia's WonderCon and Kansas City's Planet Comicon. Armstrong doesn't mention that specifically, but does mention another convention - Star Wars Celebration, scheduled to take place in the same Chicago venue April 11 through 15.

"Plus with Star Wars Celebration happening just a few weeks later, we ultimately felt moving C2E2 up a week would be best for the city of Chicago and allow us to put on the biggest and best event we could for our 10th anniversary.”
