Bong Dazo Passes Away at 56

Angelo 'Bong' Dazo passed away after a long bout with liver cancer, as confirmed by agent David Campiti and Marvel Entertainment.

"Marvel is deeply saddened by the loss of Ty 'Bong' Dazo, artist of Deadpool and more great comics," the publisher tweeted. "Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends and fans around the world."

Dazo is best known for his work on various Deadpool series for Marvel, as well as Dark Horse's Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. His most recent work was illustrating covers for Zenscope Entertainment's Belle: Beast Hunter.

Born Angelo Ty Dazo on June 16, 1962 in Meycauayan, Bulacan, Philipines, Dazo's nickname - 'Bong' - was taken from the Filipino senator Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr.

Dazo is survived by his wife, Jessica, and two children, Johan and Jianon.
