Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige says there will be a time in the near future when the presence of female heroes outweighs their male counterparts.
"I think we're getting to the point soon where we have so many great female characters that those are just our heroes as opposed to when are they all female, all male," Feige told ScreenRant about the presence of women in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. "It's just the Marvel heroes, more than half of which will be women."
Marvel Studios' first big screen solo female superhero will hit the screen with March 8, 2019's Captain Marvel. The MCU's first titular female hero will be the Wasp, who debuts in July 6's Ant-Man and the Wasp. A Black Widow movie is also in development, with a female director reportedly being sought .
Feige and director Ryan Coogler also previously expressed the possiblity of a spin-off for the women of this year's Black Panther.
