Paramount is developing a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film with Bad Words writer Andrew Dodge at the helm, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Michael Bay, who produced 2014's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and its sequel Out of the Shadows, will produce the new film as well. It is unclear whether the reported new film would be a sequel following the same continuity of those films, or an entirely new project.
THR cites unnamed "insiders" as saying Paramount wants a "veneer of quality" over the production, following the poor critical reception of the two prior films. If accurate, that may suggest a new film would be a reboot.
No projected release date for a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film was reported.
*A previous version of this story incorrectly referred to Andrew Dodge as the director of Bad Words. He was the writer. We apologize for the error.
