New official images of the cast of Aquaman have surfaced courtesy of Entertainment Weekly. The images include a pair of new covers featuring the cast of the film.
The first is a spotlight on Jason Momoa as the titular undersea superhero, in a more casual appearance than his Justice League armor.
“Rarely has a superhero character been married to the real-life actor as much as Aquaman and Jason Momoa,” executive producer Peter Safran told EW. “He’s authentically from two worlds, he’s this real physical specimen, he’s got this humor which he’s never been allowed to play before — in every regard he is Aquaman.”
The second cover, a Barnes & Noble exclusive, shows more of Momoa's look for the film alongside Amber Heard as Mera and Nicole Kidman as Queen Atlanna.
EW also premiered the first image of Black Manta, the film's secondary antagonist played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who maintains his recognizable comic book helmet design for the film.
“Black Manta is a really interesting character who is somehow factored into this story but our main story is about Jason and Patrick,” director James Wan explained. “He’s part mercenary but full-time pirate who in his suit will look like some crazy alien from outer space.”

Aquaman is due out in theaters December 21.
