Storm actress Alexandra Shipp, who debuted in the role in 2016's X-Men: Apocalypse, says she wants to star in her own solo Storm movie.

"Not yet, but I am hoping we will get around to it. It is definitely time for these Storm fans to get the movie they have been dying for," Shipp told The Hollywood Reporter when asked whether a Storm movie was in the works. "There are so many different storylines that we could take on when it comes to Storm — whether she is losing her powers or going back to Africa. I just want there to be a message of 'this woman doesn't need a man.' Just one movie where a woman doesn't need a man, really."

Shipp will reprise her role as Storm in X-Men: Dark Phoenix, which is due out in theaters February 14, 2019. The future of Fox's X-Men film franchise remains undetermined, pending the proposed purchase of Fox's media assets by the Walt Disney Company.
