Tony Stark is back in action as Iron Man in Invincible Iron Man #600, writer Brian Michael Bendis' final issue for Marvel Comics and the end of his Iron Man run. But Tony isn't the only one who's back with this issue.
Spoilers ahead for Invincible Iron Man #600.
Now back to full brain functionality after months spent in a coma and on the run, Tony Stark is holed up in a secret laboratory at the start of Invincible Iron Man #600, working on a way to bring his best friend, James "Rhodey" Rhodes back from dead. Using technology based on his own altered DNA, Stark manages to do the impossible and fully resurrect and revitalize Rhodey, who is almost immediately able to return to fighting crime as War Machine.
Rhodey died fighting Thanos back at the start of 2016's Civil War II, which was also written by Bendis. His death caused a rift between Tony Stark and Carol Danvers that led to the superhuman conflict and Tony's eventual comatose state.
Of course, now Tony Stark has power over life and death. But that may be a matter for writer Dan Slott and artist Valerio Schiti to deal with when their new series Tony Stark: Iron Man launches on June 20.
