Universal Pictures' Cowboy Ninja Viking starring Chris Pratt and directed by Game of Thrones' Michelle MacLaren is scheduled to shoot this summer for a June 28, 2019 release, and has hired to different screenwriters to work as a team to "whip the project into shape" according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Dan Mazeau (Wrath of the Titans) and Ryan Engle (Liam Neeson's The Commuter and Non-Stop and Dwayne Johnson’s Rampage), have reportedly been hired to work together.
Based on the Image Comics series by by A.J. Lieberman and Riley Rossmo, Cowboy Ninja Viking tells of a "counter-intelligence unit that uses multiple personality disorder patients to create agents known as Triplets, referring to the three personalities the killers have. When the agents become rogue hired guns, the deadliest Triplet of them all, one who can manifest the toughest skills of three different personas, that of a cowboy, a ninja, and a Viking, is called in to take down his own brethren."
According to the trade, Mazeau and Engle will be at least the fourth and fifth writers hired on the project. Two previous drafts were written by three writers before the new pair were asked to fuse their own pitches together.
