Updated December 5, 2018: Robert Schwentke has been hired to direct Paramount's Snake-Eyes solo film spinning out of the G.I. Joe franchise, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Schwentke directed the second and third films in the Divergent series, and also directed the comic book adaptations of Red and R.I.P.D.
The previously reported screenwriter Evan Spilotopoulos has completed a script for the film, with Brian Goldner on-board as a producer.
Original Story: Paramount is developing a G.I. Joe spin-off movie focusing on Snake Eyes, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Snake Eyes is the Joes' resident ninja, and one of the franchise's most popular characters. Beauty and the Beast screenwriter Evan Spiliotopoulos is reportedly in talks to write the script.
It is unclear whether Snake Eyes would be a continuation of Paramount's two previous G.I. Joe movies, in which martial artist and stuntman Ray Park played the character, or if the reported spin-off will also serve as a reboot.
