Paramount Pictures has cancelled its plans to adapt Brian Michael Bendis and Marc Andreyko's Torso miniseries, according to Deadline.

The project had been in development with director Paul Greengrass attached, though this was only the latest in several attempts to adapt the film, including a failed 2008 itteration with David Fincher.

Deadline reports that Torso, which had been retitled Ness in an attempt at building a film franchise, was scuttled due to issues with the script - which purportedly strayed significantly from the source material.

According to the Hollywood trade, the project's reported cancellation will likely lead to the rights to Torso reverting to Bendis and Andreyko.
