Director Antoine Fuqua has revealed that Sony Pictures has approached him regarding the previously-reported Morbius the Living Vampire live-action film. Fuqua, who directed the upcoming film The Equalizer 2, said that he had talks about Black Panther as well, years prior.
"As a kid I grew up with comic books. They talked to me about Black Panther years ago, way back in the day. There's some reason they came up and they talked to me about at Sony, a Marvel character, Morbius...that kinda came up," Fuqua told JoBlo. "I don't know, I have a thirteen-year-old son so I'm watching more of that again and it's exciting to do that. I'd love to create a new one. Y'know, something that's closer to what I get excited about."
Back in November 2017, reports indicated that Sony hired Power Rangers screenwriters Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama to craft a Morbius movie - intended to tie into an interconnected Sony Spider-verse alongside Venom and the upcoming Silver & Black.
Sony has not officially confirmed that a Morbius movie is in active development.
