DreamWorks Animation is developing an animated series based on its Fast & Furious film franchise. The family-oriented series will air on Netflix.
The animated series will focus on Tony Toretto, the teenage cousin of F&F character Dom Toretto, who will infiltrate a racing league that is actually a front for a criminal empire.
“We are thrilled to take our fantastic partnership with DreamWorks Animation to the next level with new opportunities from the vast library of Universal Pictures,” said Melissa Cobb, Netflix’s VP of Kids and Family in a statement (via Deadline). “The Fast & Furious franchise is a global phenomenon beloved by audiences of all ages, and we can’t wait to get started on the new animated series that will capture the action, heart, humor and global appeal of the feature films.”
No projected premiere date for the Fast & Furious animated series has been announced.
