CW's Arrow has replaced its showrunner on the heels of its renewal for a seventh season, according to Deadline. Long-time showrunners Wendy Mericle and Marc Guggenheim will exit their positions to be replaced by Beth Schwartz, the show's current co-producer.
Mericle will leave Arrow entirely, however Guggenheim will stay on board as Executive Consultant. Guggenheim will take a similar role on DC's Legends of Tomorrow, leaving Phil Klemmer that show's sole showrunner.
“We are all so incredibly thrilled to announce Beth Schwartz as the new showrunner of Arrow,” said Arrow co-creator Greg Berlanti in a statement. “She has been a source of some of the show’s most exciting and memorable moments from the beginning. Beth is a true leader and a captivating storyteller, and we all can’t wait for the audience to see what she and her team dream up as they take Arrow into its next big chapter.”
Both Arrow and DC's Legends of Tomorrow are currently airing on CW, with both having been renewed for new seasons.
